So yeah, I did that. No dice. I'm missing an option somewhere i'm sure. Anyone wanna walk me through step by step setting up the vcr, connecting it, which cables to use, and all the software steps? There's gotta be something i'm missing.

External Harddrive For Gaming?

If I were to buy an external harddrive, would it be possible to hook it to my laptop (Macbook Pro bootcamped to Windows) and run games off of it? Transfer speeds via firewire or USB 2.0 fast enough to achieve this? There's rather limited space on the laptop harddrive and this would be great for...

Oh, also. The cable the VCR is hooked into has like, Video OUT written on it. Would that mean it outputs, doesn't receive?

We've got one of these things: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16815116609 Problem is, we've got a VCR. The included red, yellow, white cable is currently plugged in, and the VCR is plugged into that cable. However, we cannot get the video to display on the PC for capture...

That cable you linked I attached to the power connector and put it in the power slot on the mobo. There's ANOTHER slot for the ATX12V cable, but I don't see another cable to actually put in there. Am I missing it or should I detach the big one?

Can't get display on a brand new PC

Windows isn't even installed yet. Every fan in the thing is working, including the video card, but I can't get anything to appear on the monitor. There appears to be no signal going to the monitor, but visually I see nothing wrong. There's an LED on the motherboard that works just fine...

No, no gaming whatsoever on this thing. Not my PC, my dad's. He does not game, at all. And video capture will be from an analog camcorder. Red yellow and white plugs and whatnot. TV capture wouldn't hurt either.

My dad is interested in putting together a PC for himself for video editing and work projects, and i've got him a good one on everything but the video card so far. I hear there's these "all-in-wonder" things that work like a dream for video editing, but I really no naught about video cards...

Ok. Yeah, my friend uses some cheap headphones. That processor looks good Inline. Someone suggested to me I use 2 512 sticks of RAM rather than 1 stick of a gig. Any reason for that?
