GTX 780 SLI with 1 reference, 1 ACX?

I wonder to what extent high CFM side case fans blowing directly on the video cards would help the temps. Seems like the case for water cooling continues to grow if a mobo replacement will be needed to take full advantage of cards.

Would 2 reference cards be better for SLI then? I didn't realize the reference cooler had its air intake from the front of the card as I assumed the intake was on the face of the card in a similar location to where the ACX fans are on that card.

Ah, I wasn't thinking about the clearance for the ACX fans. The reference cards both have intake and exhaust through the back of the card? From the tests run by TweakTown, the ACX card runs significantly cooler than the reference - won't the reference card get hot faster running in the top spot...

Buy another desk. Problem solved. In all seriousness, is there no way to add another desk? I was just in the same situation with my girlfriend and I rearranged furniture and grabbed a 2'x5' folding table at Lowe's and BAM!, we had a second desk.
