Any particular thoughts about these laptops?
I know it is more of a mainstream laptop than the premium ultrabooks, but for $599 it seems like it is pretty well equipped.
The only real negative I can see is that even though it comes with 8GB of ram it is only one stick. So no dual channel. But...
I am trying to get a better understanding of CPU power management. For the purposes of this discussion I have an i5-2500K running in a desktop environment.
If I leave my computer on 24/7 downloading torrent files (a relatively low CPU intensive activity) what processor states will my CPU be...
Let me try another question that might help.
I am using the bundled software that came with the Logitech C525. Is there other/better software to use to record video that will improve image quality?
I assume that the camera hardware itself is somewhat limited and thus I will never get "good"...
Yes I know dedicated camcorders will do a far superior job at recording video than a webcam. But I would like to know if there is a webcam that can double as a "decent" video recorder.
I bought a Logitech HD C525, and it does a pretty good job of being a webcam for relatively little $$$. But...
I am using HDMI for the video out not VGA.
The motherboard is an ASUS P8H61-M.
The monitor is a 46" Sony Bravia. It is the same monitor that I use with my other comp running a AMD 6870 which looks perfectly fine.
The monitor is set to native resolution (1920x1080).
I am at work at the...
So I have been playing around with a new Celeron G530, and for every bit that I have been amazed at how well this CPU can handle things, I am equally amazed at how horrible the HD Graphics is.
I have not tried it in any games nor will I, I am talking about general 2D desktop environments. On...
Thanks for all the feed back.
I have got the rig up and running and I can confirm that both
- video is working on my H61 chipset.
- audio is working through the HDMI port.
On a side note, this Celeron G530 is a hell of a chip for $50.
according to Intel ARK

It does support iGPU.
My mother board in particular has, DVI, VGA, and HDMI on the back I/O panel.
Just want to know if I can get audio out of the HDMI port as well.
Not sure if this is a mobo question or a cpu question, but...
If I am using a Sandybridge cpu and using the iGPU, combined with a mobo that has an HDMI port. Will it support video and audio through this port?
Is it dependent on the iGPU (HD 3000 vs HD 2000 vs HD)
Is it dependent on the...
Is the only difference between these two CPUs:
- the clock speed (2.6 GHz vs 2.8GHz)
- the the memory controler (1066 on the G620 and 1333 on the G840)
In a slightly seperate question if I use a couple of 1333 mem sticks I have lying around with the G620 they "should" work at the slower speed...
The choice of the Sempron 130 was more out of convenience. The board used older tech that I had some parts lying around for. For instance I already had some DDR2 sticks and as a possible later upgrade if cpu preformance was not adequate, I have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ collecting dust. Also the...
Thanks for all the replies...
Didn't realize the Semprons were stripped down dual cores that could unlock. Go to know, but I think for this price I would rather go for the sure thing.
And IGemini, thanks for the idea, I was just looking at the combo deals for A4-3300 and noticed the same $5...
Looking to build an inexpensive small light use comp that will probably have several different dutys throughout its life. I have seen two offering on Newegg that caught my eye. One built around the AMD E350 and the other built around the AMD Sempron 130.
What will be the difference between...
