What would your first car be worth in mint condition?

2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T. Sold it two years ago for $8200. Sad thing is after two years the prices seemed to have actually gone up in my area.

    NON_POLITICAL China Coronavirus THREAD

No one really knows yet, but there's a paper from Nature that gives a bit more insight: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-020-0820-9?adobe_mc=TS%3D1584561892%7CMCMID%3D22120076161542296363628322793787979963%7CMCORGID%3D2C7336C753C676BA0A490D4B%2540AdobeOrg "The genomic features described...

    NON_POLITICAL China Coronavirus THREAD

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from the cases in US, it doesn't seem like it can make you seriously sick from what I last looked at. And people should be practicing good hygiene anyways even before this whole virus thing. I'm always amazed at the amount of people that don't even wash their hands...

Winter-specific rims and tires or no, what sayest thou?

I live in Vancouver, Canada, and I have winter tires on all my vehicles. Never knew it made such a big difference until I actually got them. The weather is mild most of the time but it's definitely worth it for the week or so that gets snow/ice. An alternative is to swap the all-season for...

    Discussion Is My Car Totaled?

Surprised the airbags didn't deploy from that. Was going to say if the air bags went off then it's probably guaranteed to be written off. I think it'd be pretty close considering your entire front end + fenders got smashed pretty good. To be honest hope you'd get it totalled and use the money...

Supposedly young men aren't brushing their teeth?

They'll start brushing again once their teeth falls apart with the cavities.

How come we haven't done our own anti-China/pro Hong Kong publicity stunt yet?

All you'll get is people spamming FREE HONG KONG on every single thread, no matter if it has anything to do with it or not.

    Carmax Experiences?

Yea, usually dealers don't like older cars. They also have to factor all the potential problems it might have and have to give a low ball price. I would just sell it through Craigslist. Like others have said I have noticed values for older cars have been increasing, so it may be worth a shot...

    Flu shot makes you sick

Thinking it's more likely because you have to go to a clinic to get the shot, and the clinic has a bunch of sick people spreading germs. People in North America don't like to wear a mask when they have cold symptoms so it might spread easy.

    DIY cardiology testing?

To be fair, the best thing you can do is just regular exercise. Another option is to get an Apple Watch to monitor your heartbeat. There's articles that say it actually picked up irregular heartbeat for people. Canada can definitely learn from other countries in operating health care. South...

    DIY cardiology testing?

I doubt the doctor would even refer you if the basic blood tests/ECG checks out and you are otherwise healthy. Even if you do it will probably be like 4-6 months wait. I got referred to a gastroenterologist for stomach problems and its like "we'll call you in 4 months". Times like this where I...

Nit-picking as I plan my radiator-flush and hose replacements

My bad, didn't seem to connect the dots on all the other threads you had! Well it does sound like you want to stay on top on of everything that can cause you trouble. People have said that the upper hose usually wears out faster due to constant heating and cooling vs the lower hose. So if you...

Nit-picking as I plan my radiator-flush and hose replacements

I'd just leave it if it looks fine. What would really ruin them is if you have an oil leak and it ends up getting onto the hoses, so check that first. Also you typed on all that but didn't say what car it was? I'm sure somebody here will have better advice knowing what car it is.

When changing rotors, is it ususal to change the pads too?

Obviously they don't mean connected literally. The pads and rotors wear out at the same time so you need to replace both. This is true for the other german brands too.

Building up my wrench and socket collection

Another option is Harbor Freight, they usually have stuff that are pretty cheap. If you are just using them occasionally then it's not bad.
