ViRGE you are a life saver. Thanks to rvuerinckx who found the cure, it worked just fine. I was minutes away from format and reclone after three days of hell.

Thanks for replying. I tried repair mode at least 6 times. Wasn't sure it was doing anything useful. Perhaps I can try a few more times if it is correcting faulty memory locations, I guess it might work if I am persistent. Only snag would be if it isn't actually correcting anything when it...

which SSD with ICH9R X38 ?

Need help, want a single SSD to instal Win7 64 and currently run XP32 on a raid 0 of two Hitachi T7K sata spindles via ICH9R. Must keep XP32 running, has many games on it and want to keep raid 0 intact as that is good for XP without TRIM. Hoping for a dual boot system. Googling found...

list games where crossfire / SLI do not scale

Does Crossfire include 3870x2 ? Because there are a load of recent 4870 reviews out which showed the 3870x2 not scaling very well in games like... Tomb Raider Anniversary, Bioshock v1.1, Crysis v1.21, Lightsmark v1.3 http://www.legitreviews.com/article/734/1/ more reviews listed here...

Well, I've solved my overheating problem.

With most thermal compunds you need a petroleum based alkane like barbecue or lighter fluid, alcohol is not effective as it is too polar (due to the oxygen atom) to dissolve the silicon oil. Alkanes also good for sticky label residues.

4870X2 vs GTX280 Poll

I am glad to see all the confidence in the 4870x2, maybe it will get some of the HS/F companies to start taking the ATIx2 seriously, ditto game devs will have to support them too and who knows maybe even some patches for games that currently cant use them, that would be nice... if AMD/ATI did...

I let speedstep do its job having applied the MS tweak KB896256. I dont know what stage they cherry pick IDontCare, but they presumably must at least sort the packaged product into speed bins.
