Instead of having cd's around, you can have a bunch of thumb drives for OS installation. for that matter, you could use XPLite and install the Lite verion of XP on a thumbdrive.
Have owned...Still own....and would get another one in a heart beat, for some one else...I build my own now...
My current Alienwares are no longer original, been upgraded thru out the years...
BTW, I used to work there, Best job I've ever had, but got laid off after Sept. 11th, I did Phone...
according to this chart, going from the 9500pro to a 9600xt is not really an upgrade, more like an even trade...

My 9500 scored 4263. and that's with my P4 2.0. not with my current P4 2.6. So yeah your score seems pretty low. A moderatly overclocked 9500pro is more than a match to a 9600xt. Only when you overclock the 9600XT does it beat the 9500 PRO and only by a slim lead. Not too shaby for a card tat...
