Thanks for all the replies! The virtual memory paging file was the culprit. I have 12GB of RAM, and Windows automatically set my paging file to 12GB. I I google'd around and there isn't a clear opinion that reducing this will be that harmful to my system. My task manager only reported my system...
I'm trying to clean up my main C: on Windows 7. It is an unpartitioned 80G SSD, with 74GB of actual space to use. Windows reports that I'm currently using 46.8GB from Local Disk Properties. Normally, I'd use Windows Explorer to find which folders are eating up the most space to clean those out...
Like most have said, it's very important to have them demo it for you. Specifically, I feel at ease after they've done the following:
1) Run GPU-Z to confirm the proper GPU is being sold
2) Play a popular game (where you are familiar with the bench numbers) to see how it actually performs. A...
2004 - No name brand 17" LCD @ 1280x1024
2009 - 22" Acer TN Panel @ 1920x1080
2010 - 27" HP 2710m TN Glossy Panel @ 1920x1080. Loved this one, vibrant colors that pop
2011 - Three 24" Dell 2412m IPS Panel @ 5760x1200. My first Eyefinity setup, it was not as great as I though it would be. The...
Well said. It takes more than a year to design and deliver a GPU, especially one on a new process. Nvidia read the 7970 benchmarks in December 2011, which was 2 or 3 months before their rumored GK100 release. Two to three months is not enough time to shift gears and intentionally delay GK100...
This. My 7970 was stable at 1125/1575 @ 1.075V in Furmark after 30 minutes, but would crash in games after 10 minutes. In the end, it's all about stability in games anyway, so using that as a medium for testing makes sense.
Why would you buy a 7970 if you game at 1200p? $500+ GPUs are for 30" or eyefinity resolutions. Review sites are doing it right if they focus their numbers at those resolutions. If you have a 1200p monitor, then wait for GK104, 7870, or buy a 6950 / 560Ti.
I have a 1.05V stock VID 7970. When I up the voltage to 1.175V, I can get 1200/1675 with load temps at 87C and fan on auto (which goes to 51% at load temp). I haven't decided whether I want to keep it at this level or not. My other setting is 1.15V with 1150/1600, giving a load temp of 80 and...
The 30" is 2560x1600, and the portrait 20" is 1200x1600, so the total resolution is 4960x1600. I'm currently using a single 6950 2GB.
AMD/ATi cards can run 3 monitors off a single card, whereas you need two Nvidia cards to run 3 monitors.
I used Eyefinity on three Dell U2412m monitors for a few months. I eventually sold it to get a 20-30-20 setup. Here's my mini review of the experience:
3x Landscape
Great for any game that supports it. It does take some getting used to with the peripheral monitors. I got dizzy the first few...
Hi, I'm trying to put together a parts list for my friend. His budget is about $500, and the main goal is to play League of Legends at 1920x1080 resolution. I'd like to get your opinion on this build.

I'm helping my friend buy a budget PC, and I wanted your guys' opinion on the cheapest GPU that run LoL on max settings at 1920x1080. My initial guess is a 5750, but I'm wondering if I can go even lower than that. What do you think?
Eyefinity does take some getting used to, depending on the setup. I didn't enjoy 3x1 landscape much with my games. It was a bit disorienting and I definitely had to turn my head way too much. On the other hand, 3x1 portrait is amazing. The bezels don't bother me at all in FPS games, and it feels...
