noobie question...

Thanks, folks. I should really put things in context. I've just invested in a HD7850 card and I'm just looking at what is the best option of hooking up the 'second' monitor (my panels only have DVI and D-Sub). The first monitor will be DVI to DVI.

Which of the following is better? HDMI to DVI, or (mini-)Display Port to DVI? I would be grateful if you can give your reasoning for saying one over another. Thanks.

5 Monitor Setup

Since you only want 2D, have you consider a Matrox card? Pick one which has a LFH60 connector and with a cable upgrade, you are looking at 4 analog monitors. Posted from Anandtech.com App for Android

That's my point: Do you think I can run a pair of 1920x1200 screens off the HD7870 and then one screen at 1600x1200 off the HD66XX/77XXX? In this set up, I'd only play games using the pair of 1920x1200 screens.

AMD Eyefinity

Interesting... For 3D gaming, I can live with just two screens (1920x1200 x 2) or even just one screen. For 2D work (Office apps, e-mail, internet, etc.) I really like having three screens (desktop real estate). Would it work better if I use the HD7870 to power the two 1920x1200...

Thanks, Pedroc1999. 7970 is a little out of my league. I'd settle for a 7950. I generally play RPGs (Elder Scrolls IV and V, X3TC), strategy games (Civ4), management games (CityXL, FM13) and, very occasionally, FPS.

Windows 7 beta on an USB stick?

I've downloaded both the 32bit and 64bit versions of Windows 7 beta. Nowadays I only have one rig and I don't plan to trash my rig just to test this OS. Does anyone know whether I can install and boot Windows 7 beta from a USB stick? Thanks.
