AMD 4870 with PCI 8400GS?

Good point, The 9500GT would be a better choice. Looking for a poor man's Tesla to learn some CUDA programming and to run some Apps.

AMD 4870 with PCI 8400GS?

Question, I have the 4870 as my main card, and I only have an old-school PCI slot remaining. Can I use a PCI 8400GS as a CUDA card to run CUDA apps (F@H, BOINC, etc)? Thanks, Sponge Clarification: Running Win7 64-bit RTM

Well in the spirit of full disclosure this was an in-place upgrade. I will try a full rebuild some other time. but I still stand by my opinion ;)

Been running Vista Ultimate (Technet Plus DL) since mid Nov. I hate it. About 40% of my games don't work. File copying takes forever. DRM hell... Rundll crashes all of the time (granted the apps in question aren't labeled vista compatible but WTF) Startup takes an eon (6+ minutes) and many...

Vista Annoyances Help Please?

UAC really sucks. Disabling that was one of the first things I searched the internet for. After disabling UAC in control panels I found a Reg tweak that got rid of all notifications that I diabled it. Now all is nice. I'm glad that I didn't install vista on a machine I care too much about...

Disney picks Blue-Ray

well, they did say "non-exclusive". I see that as their picking a side, but not above ditching the format the consumers don't want. Remember, Disney also picked Divx (not the codec) as their format of choice... we'll just have to wait and see. Personally, I will wait until a single format...

MicroATX PSUs

Be very careful which PSU you get. I've burned through a 230 watt A-power, 320 watt a-power, and 250 GBP+. I have a 270 watt Enermax from newegg that has been running in my little B computer for a couple of months with no problems. Take a lesson from me and buy quality from the start istead...

What drew you to a SFF system?

I've built 3 SFF systems so far and I built them for portability. My main LAN party system is built around a Chenbro hornet mATX mini-tower. it has a 3.0 P4, 2gig DDR400, SATA etc. Lovely.... :)

3.4 P4 Northwood Temp?

I'm getting 40-42C idle and 52-56C under load for my 3.4 P4 with intel stock cooling. Is this normal, I thought the load temps were a little high, anyone else able to corroborate? Sponge

What do you use to clean your CRT screen?

I have always used water and newspaper to clean all of my monitors as well as all mirrors and windows in my house. Try it and you'll never buy windex again :) Honestly it works wonders... Sponge
