OK, this is what I know, someone correct me if wrong. When using the D-Sub connection yo don't need an .INF profile file as the monitor will interactively communicate with the PC about its capabilities. In this case, Windows will be using the standard "Plug and Play Monitor" driver...

Thanks dbLA, I'd tried doing this. What's weird, if I disable this option, the icon colors look REALLY bad, like 16 colors or something. When I enable this option, icon colors improve, but to me still actually look like 256-color dithering (not even 16-bit)! I'll take a closer look again...

BTW, the Savage IX mobile graphics controller in this thing has only 4MB video memory (it looks like only the two highest end models of the HP 5200 series has 8MB). Generally that would be fine (enough to run a single 2D desktop at 1600x1200x16bpp, if you have a 21" monitor for example)...

Just copy all the install .cab files to your HDD (like I always do and I imagine HP does). Saves times putting in a CD everytime, and doesn't take up that much space (only like 100megs or so)...

FYI, besides the dongle/integrated jack issue, there's also the issue of 16-bit PC Card vs. 32-bit CardBus. The Linksys at OD is the 16-bit version. IIRC, 16-bit PC Card has only like a 2MB/sec (?) bandwidth, whereas CardBus is modeled after PCI and has the full 132MB/sec bandwidth (HUGE...

Some here says Micron charges tax to ALL states, is this true? I got charged here in Texas, though I'm not sure why since I didn't think they have any presence here. On the flip side it seems Walmart.com didn't charge me tax for my purchases, though obviously the B&M stores are everywhere...
