Warm: ASUS x58 mobo plus 12GB RAM combo at NE

Thanks for the linkage. I was straddling the fence on upgrading but finding this and a great price on a Core i7 960 elsewhere enticed me to pull the trigger. Ordered today and the Egg shipped today, both orders are due to arrive the 28th.

It does indeed, at least the retail box version I got. I've owned one of these since mid summer (paid $140 for it), no complaints here. I do BluRay playback from my Vista Ultimate box to my HDTV with it.

*Official* ASUS P5Q Deluxe Intel P45 Board Thread

Can anyone share their experience with S3 (suspend to ram) on this board? I have the vanilla P5Q, E8400 at stock, Corsair VX450 pwr supply, fresh install of x64 Vista. It goes into S3 just fine but seems to wake up for no reason whatsoever.

ASUS Rant...A8N-E info might help fellows with trouble

A8N-E owner for slightly over a year. My only beef (somewhat better experience than CraigRT), is my M-Audio Revo 7.1 works fine till I suspend to S3. No sound upon resuming. I finally gave up on that sound card (sniff) and am using the inferior onboard sound. I never could fully determine if...

DELL warranty

If you decide to buy an extended warranty from Dell, MAKE SURE you do it before the current warranty expires. Once it's out of warranty, they will require you to send it to depot to verify everything is in working order before selling a new warranty on it.

Daisy, Some pertinent info is here; http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;266283. Naturally MS blames it on the mobo manufacturers (or bios). I don't recall if any of Asus bios updates fixed S3 issues but I have the latest (1013) on my mobo. Since your board wakes fine with a regular...

DaisyF, FWIW my wireless keyboard wakes my A8N-E from StandBy with no problems but it is PS2, not USB. It's even going thru a KVM switch too. Off the top of my head, two things that might help you; get a USB to PS2 adapter for your keyboard. Or, see if your power switch on the case will...

Overclocking weirdness: A8N-E, Rev 2, 1013 bios, happily running a X2 3800+. I now have it set at 240 fsb, 10 mult, HT 3X, DDR 266, default voltages across the board. It is stable except frequently the screen blanks then goes into screen saver mode. It does not matter how I set monitor/power...

I just flashed from 1010 to the 1011 final. I've yet to find the "wake up from s2/s3/s4" option in the bios. Has anyone else located it?

What's the role of this box? Server or Workstation? If the answer is server, and you have no real world experience building them (servers, not PC's) have em get a Dell or HP configured to the needed spec's.

That's weird. My Revo 7.1 works fine except for the S3 problem noted. I disable it in Device Mgr, re-enable it after resuming S3 for now. M-Audio's tech support blamed it on the way mobo makers supply voltage to PCI slots during S3. They said sound card drivers want "always on" status

HELP! Ebay problem. Guy says processor doesn't work in his motherboard

I didnt have to look hard at Biostar's site to find cpu support here. Odds are 99-1 he has the M6VLQ. Looks like it should work. None of the listed bios updates say anything about adding cpu support, and Tualatins are supported.
