Would AMD be better off if they had not developed Bulldozer?

I think I need to clarify, for clockspeed gains it scales better, Sandy bridge has a kind of dip when you reach what are abnormally high speeds, Bulldozer does not seem to suffer in this respect, its has a near liniar scaling with clocks, which would indicate the architecture has lots of room of...

No, I don't think it would have been better for them not to develop Bulldozer, reasons why, Taking into account, leaky 32nm process, not enough cach, does very well in multithreaded software already, scales way better than Sandy bridge, little software compiled for it yet...

For those getting a new card to play Skyrim, some relevant info.

I have a HD3870 playing it at between high and ultra settings on 1600x1200 with 2xAA and 8xAF. on a Phenom I. Its basically the same as Oblivion.

Not being funny, But I thought this forum was above this level of conversation. Not that its rude, just really annoying. What about some EXTREME editions, are they just server chips. Of course they are, but it does not stop them topping some charts. Mindless drivel seems to be your best...

Bulldozer, Massively unoptimized

One, the performance is simply not embarrassing when the chip performs well, Two, AMD are working on compilers for the chip, and they have been for some time now. But its not like machine language is the simplest thing to interact with and say that its " there, thats your problem right there...

Obviously I was a little disappointed at the bulldozer architecture debut. But there were cases where the benchmarks really did not make sense, in one instance it scales, another it doesn't. Its great, its not and all that mixed stuff. Like a rollerskating CPU. And it runs hot as well as...

Rumour: Bulldozer 50% Faster than Core i7 and Phenom II.

But there is more. I just read that the FX-8130 has a TDP of 125, clocks at 3.8 ghz, Turbo cores to 4.2 ghz.... The 8 core FX-8110 CPU has 3.6 clocks and TDP of 95.... http://news.mydrivers.com/1/194/194271.htm Could be fake, or simply wrong.. But interesting if true.

Rumour: Bulldozer 50% Faster than Core i7 and Phenom II.

What I see is a benchmark that is limited to about 4 threads, and a 4 module/ 8 core Bulldozer performing the same as the i7 2600k SB model. Which is good I suppose. The beauty of Bulldozer is the flexibility to up the MHZ in apps that can not scale to 8 cores, and really put the hammer down...
