Im having trouble setting up my WD Raptor drive

I'm not really sure what motherboard you have or what sata controller you are trying to use. This I do know, if you have a sata raid controller (I have 2, abit with highpoint AT7MAX2 and Asus with SI Nforce2 ,you should set it up first as a single drive with no other drives attached. You will...

Before giving up try this, make sure you have the driver disc for the sata controller, install the WD by itself for now. Make sure it is set to master on the first sata port. When you boot off the WinXP CD hit the F6 key when you see it on the botton of the screen. It should prompt you for...

Air Conditioning for the case

Thanks for all the info, my main goal was to just bring down the temp in the case by 15 to 20 degrees. No major drop. I live in Hawaii so it is usually somewhat warm. Luckily in live in Hilo (one of the cooler area's to live) so it's not to bad. Average temp here is 70 at night and 82 during...

SCSI RAID configuration - multiple channels, one array?

A 80mb scsi controller will only do 80mb regardless of how many channels you spread the array across. I've had adaptec 80 and 160 controllers. I could never tell the difference. I think they have it the proverbial wall. This of course relates to desktop PC environment.

Router, or my computer? Schtoopid Internet takes forever to "start" when i use any program that accesses the internet

Other things to try, first if you can connect to the Linksys then your local area network is working. Your problem is probably DNS resolution. Try setting both your PC's to static addresses on LAN. Linksys router if I remember right is 192.168.1.1 by default. So set your PC's to 192.168.1.2...

AC for the PC

I don't really have a problem with the temps in the Seattle area but I am moving to Hawaii next year and don't want to have to keep my room AC'd all the time. All I'm after is maybe a 15 degree difference inside my PC.

AC for the PC

My hope is have the radiator placed right in front of the 2 input fans my case is using. You would end up with 2 fans blowing over the radiator and then 2 fans pulling the air into the case. The frig is a small one that I'm assuming is using some sort of peltier type device cool or heat it...

AC for the PC

Thanks for the input, but no my house doesn't have AC. And my other problem is my windows slide sideways to open so I can't use a window AC.

I want to make a PC airconditioner. The reason I want this is that even though I have some very good air cooling in my PC, when the room temp goes up so does the temp in side my PC. All I'm shooting for is cool stable environment. My idea so far is this, I have a dual 120M fan with radiator...

Cable spiking, fixable ???

Looking at the "CODE" I know you live somewhere in Canada, Near Montreal. All you see here is ping time (time to send a signal to and back from a certain connection). The IP address can be fingered to see who has them registered and that gives you semi close location. My evaluation...

Dynamic Drive under Win2K??? Whats does it mean? What does it do? is it like RAID?

Unless you have a need to span stripe or mirror then leave it as a basic volume. I use ntfs for the file system since it gives you greater security. You aren't going to get any noticeable speed difference by making it dynamic. Many of my customers change it to dynamic because they think it...

To simplify the explantion would be a physical disk managed by Disk Management in Windows 2000. You have to have a Dymanic Disk to create a Dynamic volume (spanned, mirroed, stripped ...ect). Not having to reboot the system is because Windows 2000 is managing the disk information vice fdisking...
