Updating ATI video drivers crashes system

Have tried 3 different driver versions, including the 10.1's, some driver packages downloaded more than once and tried to install multiple times. Same result every time.

And one more thing... on a whim, I just tried installing the new drivers on top of the old ones (no uninstall), and more bizarre behavior - the computer BSOD'd during the driver install. Then rebooted fine, but there were no drivers installed. I right-clicked the desktop and selected Catalyst...

Firingsquad comes through! http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/call_of_duty_2_performance_ati_nvidia/ Damn, this game is a performance drain! If you want 1024x768/4XAA/8XAF, you need a X1800XT or 7800GTX just to get over 40 fps, and you still only get 48.7 and 44.2 fps on those cards...
