Another sign that days of the free internet are numbered

I don't use it much, but I still use netzero. I have my primary pay ISP, and every once in awhile I will have problems connecting with my primary ISPchesapeake.net Now if I need to check email, or jump on IRC, Netzero works pretty well as a backup. Not that suprising really... I am actually...

Cambridge Audio Soundworks or Klipsche Pro Media 2.1's?

Wireless vs Cable Internet?

Whats a normal safe temperature for a Tbird 1ghz?

I didn't use compound, just the pad that came on the bottom of the heatsink. (chrome orb) I believe it is the fop32-1

Its a KT7a with a 1ghz... that is just too damn hot... I also have a globalwin fop32, i am going to try that, and see if its better than the chrome orb

I put a chrome orb on my tbird, but in the bios, it goes up to 60 degrees centegrade... That seems awfully hot. I tried to use the GlobalWin Fop32, but I had a hell of a time trying to get the clip on. Any suggestions

What happened to all the V5 5500s that were pulled off the shelves?

I picked one up a few weeks ago at a computer show... I paid $175.... A bit pricy, but I pretty much play UT exclusively... So I wanted to grab it before they disappear.. Which it now appears that they have..

TBIRD, KT7, and ISA....

The modem was originally an X2, I flashed it to V90 standard. I've been using this modem for a long time with no problems at all. I just switched ISP's, I've always connected at maximum rates. On my old ISP, connection wa 53,333 everytime. I've gotten just as good of connections on my new ISP...

TBIRD, KT7, and ISA....

I am planning on building my new computer this weekend... I want to use an Abit KT7 and Tbird 1ghz... The reason for this is that I still use my old ISA USR Sportster Hardware Modem. That is the reason for choosing the KT7, because it comes with 1 ISA slot. Is this a good idea? If not, please...

Thanks everybody for your input(Especially you MiniMunch). The KT7 sounds good a MB, That IBM HDD sounds good too. The main concern deciding on the processor, memory, and video..

I'm probably going to stick with AMD, just more bang for the buck. I'll just have to start pricing Thunderbirds. I already have a 4x4x32 cd-rw, PCI NIC, SBLive Value, 19" CTX monitor, and FPS2000 Speaker system. Since DSL and Cable are not available, I'm stuck with my USR ISA Sportster...

I have $1000 to spend

I need a Case, MB, Processor, Memory, HDD, and a Video Card. This is a gaming machine, and I play UT exclusively. So V5 is an interim option. I would like a processor able to o/c to 1 ghz, and a 7200 rpm ATA 100 disk drive, minumum 20 gig. Could I please get some recommendations?
