The first few missions in the game blew. I think I reinstalled this game at least 3 times before I managed to force myself to really give it a chance. I'm glad I did, the game gets very fun after the first few training missions. Namely after the boat mission.
Hum. I remember Toms first preview of a A64 put it at the same performance as a same-clocked AXP. That sure turned out to be BS.
I read, on this site I believe, that AM2 is not ready and still needs tweaks as it's current performance is no better then current CPUs. Looks spot on then...
RMA with Leadtek is pretty painless, I had to RMA my 6800GT to them- same issues as you. I mailed it to them on a Wed, they got it on Fri, and I had my new card on Tues of the following week.
I haven't tried any 16x disks, to expensive for my cheap ass. I think if I where to buy some I would try either Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. Still, at .65/.99 a disk, pft-I'll wait the extra 2 min!!
I have burned hundreds of these disks without a misburn yet. DVD player/PS2/Xbox all work just fine.

Your NEC will burn these at 12x as well (fine for data, but 12x causes skipping every once in awile in my DVD player)
Don't pop down money on a new PSU because Corecenter is bitching. Windows based monitoring software, and even the bios, are unreliable at best.
Use a multimeter.

I used to use Mushkin in all my builds, untill I started getting "Blitz" branded memory from them. I had 10 PCs to build and not one working stick of RAM.......
I've had this issue as well. I owned a 1700+ that would not run stable at stock speeds unless overvolted, right out of the box. But that same voltage took it to 2.4...go figure.
I own 2 of these cases, silver and black, and I love them. Great looks, great quality, easy to work in. My black one has housed 4 different PCs and it's always easy to swap out parts. Finish is great. Many LANs and one quakecon-no scratches yet.
Afew nitpicks though:
-3x 80mm < 2x...
