I have used Palm for the last couple of years after jumping to Windows CE too soon. Palms have always been faster at what I need and the battery never gets low as long as I stick it in the cradle every few days.

Any drive will work. I have a micro ATX tower and have used 3 different dvd, cdrw in it. They all work good. When placing the disk in, there are little tabs on the drawer of all conventional cd drives that hold the disk as it goes in. Balance is not an issue, the disk is clamped by the center...
Need to update my sig. The gforce2go driver caused an occasional bluescreen until a patch was issued. Got it in a Windows Update. Never a problem since.
Palm 515 - this is my 4th pda and it's great! Screen is readable in bright sun or total darkness. It's fast, the batteries last for days before needing recharging, color screen let's me show off pictures - even stores and plays video. Included software does it all, no need to buy anything else...
I have a Prism, and I think it's a hot deal if you need a PDA with color. The screen is great indoors, bright and sharp. Outdoors in the sun, it's washed out and hard to see.

Who has color PDA and can you read it in sunlight? I have a Handspring Visor Prism, screen looks fine indoors, but is very dark out doors. Don't some of the Pocket PCs have reflective color screens that are visible in sunlight? Any reccomendations? I'm thinking about an IPaq or Jornada.
I bought a Inspiron 8100 from Dell Refurb about three months ago. I'm very happy. I have the Gforce2go and WinXP. No problems since I got updated drivers from M$. The case is slightly flexible, otherwise excellent and cheap.
Buy a Palm or Handspring and sync it to Outlook. Now you have a backup that can be used to restore in case of HD format. But seriously, all you need to do is find the .pst file (do a search for *.pst) and save it. After new install simply replace the new .pst file with the saved one.
