ATI and DIVX Join Forces

no stutters here, duron 800+ecs 735+256megs SDRAM ... 1600x1200 video resolution ... even with high quality divxs (700x400 range!) ... winxp. yeah it surprised me too! :) a set-top dvd/divx player for under $200 would rule! under $100 would KILL! :)

SO what did you end up with? The Sony's macromode and lowlight focus are IMO it's main strengths... I almost want the Sony as well for those shots. Just curious what you purchased & what swayed you. PS - my mother loved the S200. I did notice that it doesnt do sound with it's movies unlike...

Canon S230. I have the Canon S330, and bought my mom the Canon S200 for xmas this year, and really like them both (gotta clean the finger prints off the S200 now hehe). If the S230 was out, I would have probably got that instead of my S330, but I do like the 3x optical zoom/2mp combo better...

Best 18 or 19 inch LCD - whats your reccomendation?

I wouldn't suggest ViewSonic or SONY for an LCD ... it's all about Samsung or Eizo! (or dell rebadged samsungs) and NEC/Mitsubishi.

Is DVI important in a LCD?

A few thoughts. First, I would strongly consider a different LCD than a Sony. Yes, Sony does make fantastic CRTs (I'm using a Dell 21" with a Trinitron tube!), but their LCDs are not at the top really. I'd put Samsung at the top of the LCD pyramid and maybe NEC/Mitsubishi... Look for an LCD...

LCD + gaming = okay?

I totally agree with NFS4 for once - don't let the specs decide it for you - actually spend 8 hours in front of your CRT, then 8 hours in front of an LCD (because an LCD does take a little getting used to), then tell me which one gives you less of a headache... And I think Kingofcomputer has...

Do not get a the KDS you mention. Many of the NECs are better monitors for $10-20 more, and if you do a Dell deal, you can get the 1504FP UltraSharp for about $360. I haven't seen a nicer looking 15" LCD for under $400... And if price is the main consideration the other Dell 151 LCD is under...

Has anyone switched from 19" CRT to 15" LCD?

So I've had my Dell 1504FP UltraSharp 15" for a couple days now. Previously I was using the 19" Princeton (Costco special) CRT. The difference is huge - text is a LOT sharper, and ghosting is not a problem on this screen for the work I do (mainly text-based). My eyes feel better. Glare is...

Has anyone switched from 19" CRT to 15" LCD?

This is, in fact, exactly what I'll be doing. I ordered the Dell 15" UltraSharp LCD last friday to replace this 19" Princeton Ultra 95e CRT here at my office. I'll let you know how the transition goes. Two things: 1. The CRT is very blurry in certain areas of the screen. OSD adjustments...

Who makes the Dell 1702FP Ultrasharp 17in?

I read over in "the ArsTechnica LCD thread" it's a Samsung panel. Maybe someone can confirm or deny this with a link. I'm also curious who makes the Dell UltraSharp 15" LCD, as I just ordered one for my office (the 19" Priceton CRT gives me a migraine about once a month :( )
