I'm curious about what your estimated probability of 1) PC stops working and 2) PC corrupts/loses data is for both stock and overclocked systems. I don't know you, but I'd be quite surprised if the dollar cost of the incredibly miniscule increased risk due to overclocking was really the biggest...
I don't see a need for passive-aggressive "it's ready for pickup [pause to let them ask for a refund]" and I definitely don't see a need to charge them for updating the machine when you didn't bring that up prior to the work.

IMHO, if you game, it's immediately after the launch of a full-node shrunk GPU. That's typically your chance to get a 50%+ performance, in games, with little increase in cost. Of course with slowing process upgrades at TSMC that opportunity seems to come less frequently these days...

ViRGE, why are you supporting this? Is it not the least bit suspicious that the OP jumped his price from $9k -> $17k without comment, or that he suddenly decided he needed 128gb of memory and a workstation motherboard? Yes there are plenty of people who could drop that kind of money...

If serious, why do you need 64gigs of memory, and yet you're buying only an upper-mid-range motherboard. Why no RAID storage? Why a $1k CPU and yet a midrange cooler? Why $60 speakers with a $9k PC? Etc....
