Can't use Ethernet cable to transfer files???

My old HP does not have a DVD-RW. Hence, the need to transfer files from one machine to another. I installed WinXP Pro on both machines. But the file transfer wizard is asking me to connect through the serial port. Is this normal? Why can't I choose the Ethernet/LAN? My Zonealarm was...

I know Abit sells BIOS chips for $6 US if your CPU is not recognized. Abit is a good brand too.

System posts outside case but does not even power on inside.

Are those metal thingys supposed to touch those components or not? I bent back all the tiny metal thingys on my Asus A7V600-X shield because I thought that's the way they went.

Athlon64 X2 dual core

This is why I hate walmart computers

email HP support. The only things you need if I remember correctly, are the serial numbers on the back of the case and maybe the date it was bought and the name of the store. BTW, I believe I know what this guy is trying to do. He's trying to avoid using the CD that came with the computer...

heatsink wont clip in

The last time I had to use a lot of force to put on a heatsink, I put it at an angle. Use a mirror to look at the side of it.
