Do my voltages look right?

Your screen shot was a little tiny and hard to read, but from what I can see you are running a little over 9 volts on the 12 volt line. Yes, this is a problem . . . replace the power supply.

I got hit with a virus but cant get it out

Startup resolution stuck at 640x480

Make sure your motherboard drivers are installed correctly (in particular, the AGP driver), then after this if it doesn't correct itself, then remove the video card via Device Manager and reinstall it by the instructions that came with the card when it reboots.

How much memory is too much?

Given the resources of most common motherboards, you would need to use 1GB modules to achieve your stated goal of 2GB. Have you priced this size module in the desired speed range? I would suspect that answer to that, once known to management, would make all previous considerations mote.

Anyone know of: RBENH.exe ?

My research shows it to be a redirector. Are your definition files for AA6 and SB uptodate? Any, delete it, and do a search for it in REGEDIT and remove all references.

Help required with PC switching itself off!

Sounds like a cooling problem to me. duplicate the problem, and as soon as it turns off turn it back off, go into CMOS and see what the temps are in the hardware monitor department. Keep in mind that things cool rapidly, so these will be lower than when it actually shut down, but it will give...

Virus problem or Windows problem??

The Restore Folder is not accessible to anything like a virus checker because the operating system protects it from being altered by anything but itself. Therefor, the only way to get a virus out of there is to turn it off (Windows Key + Pause/Break key in XP) and then turn it off once the virus...

Windows xp pro startup problem

You are at the point in the boot process where it should be switching from VGA mode to whatever your desktop is set for (i.e. 1024x768, or whatever) If your video driver has become corrupted for whatever reason, it will do this. Use F8 while booting to get your DOS type start menu and select VGA...

USB printer port

Basic suggestion: Look in the manual for your printer and see how to produce a test print from the printer itself. This will verify that it is assembled correctly, all the packing takes have been removed, and you didn't do anything really dumb like leaving the tape on the print carts.

Linksys BEFSR41 dropping connection

Try connecting a tester to your cable and wiggle the wire right behind the connector to see if you have a poor connection. I have run into this even on cables that were working correctly for many months.

Restricting the kids

Jack, WinGuardPro seems to be a very useful utility, and I have downloaded it and will play for a while to see if it can satisfy the needs of my friend. However, Peter's suggestion to use the Group Policy Editor might do the same thing with less overhead, but I am waiting for him to post back...

I am basically familiar with Group Policy Editor. Can you give an example of how you would write this restriction and exactly which section it would go in. Remember, we are not trying to restrict the entire computer, just the one user (child).:confused:

Restricting the kids

On the WinXP operating system, is it possible to restrict one person from access to the Internet without denying other users? In other words, the parents don't want to restrict the movements of their children, they want to completely deny them access while still being able to access it themselves.
