Are there DDR SDRAM Athlon 4 LAPTOPS?

I've been looking to buy my first laptop lately and have been sorely disappionted in the optins available to me. I ONLY buy AMD and haven't noticed any DDR SDRAM solutoins, only SDRAM is stated at the websites I've been to. Anyone know anything I don't (about this!)?

Onboard RAID vs PCI card RAID

Does anyone have any info/specs regarding the performance/bandwidth available to a RAID controller chip from an onboard or PCI card arrangement to the North Bridge?

266MHz FSB on low end CPU

I wouldn't count on AMD releasing a class 'C' chip for any MHz lower that 1200. That's simply cutting edge technology and we will all have to pay the price for it if we want it.

Is it a heat issue?

If you have any thermal grease you should try that first. Often the OEM providers don't put enough on to make a good heat seal, resulting in chips overheating and locking up.

Athlon TBird or Duron?!?!

P4 Vs T1000........I mean T-Bird

Seeing as how we all enjoy this topic I'd like to get in my 2cents as well. First off, the TBird is the fastest, cheapest, and best processor for 32-bit applications. I think everyone here (except Intel, of course) realizes that more cache = more speed. And the TBird has more cache, hands...

if you had $800 to spend on mb,cpu and ram. What would you buy??

Personally, I would go with a new Abit KT7A-Raid with the class 'C' TBird and some sort of extreme cooling solution. The class 'C' TBird being one of the 133MHZ DDR FSB chips. Class 'B's are only 100MHz (the DDR on B's I'm not sure about).

I'll give it a try when I add my new peltier, my dog ate the last one before I could put it on! :( Till then its just the water block.

No, it is unlocked. I did it myself with a mechanical pencil. Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to set the multiplier to 'user define' in the BIOS at all.

Poll: DDR Really worth it? (Updated)

OK... Here's the strait dope: DDR SDRAM kicks much booty, the problem is there isn't enough booty around to be kicked! Read some hardware reviews involving DDR mobo's and you'll notice that memory bandwidth is rarely a criticle issue, unless you normally run 25 programs at the same time...

conductive ink pen or defogger kit?

If you are trying to close the L1 bridges on an AMD chip just use a really sharp pencil. Works every time:)
