usb hard drive problem

Hi, I have this usb harddrive, it used to work when i directly plugged it into my usb ports on the computer. now it'll only work if i plug it into a hub *but* the hub is plugged into the computer... so it won't work when plugged into the computer, but it will work when plugged into a...

reseller ratings only has entry on them.... so don't know anything about merchant reliability. also linksys != cisco. linksys was bought out by cisco, but linksys quality/relibabity hardly equals cisco's quality/relibabilty as of yet.

laptop nic keeps cutting out

i recently reinstalled on my dell 8100 with the 3com mini pci nic. everything works fine execpt that when i d/l stuff. the nic cuts out. at first i had the "allow pc to turn off nic to save power" checked, andi when i unchecked it. i started working again. however, after a few mins. it cut...
