ATRAC will open the door for more DRM. Every test I have come across clearly indicates that while it is a decent format, there are others that are more popular and worthwhile in terms of audio quality and technology. You can take a LAME encoded MP3 and it sounds better to my ears than ATRAC...

Perfect example of Japanese consensus decision making in action. Better to support MP3, WMA and a couple more formats than push your own and not sell any units. Cost justification for the licenses is pretty simple. I think they are under the impression that form factor is the biggest deciding...

NOD32 Antivirus is the best?

Might I suggest www.kaspersky.com and reading the product descriptions. You don't need workstation anyway, iunless you're going to install it in an administered environment FYI Personal Pro and Workstation will not give you any kind of a huge lift over Personal in terms of detection ability.

Good deal. Thanks for the scoopage. *Edit, took a look and I don't think it's going to happen. Connector goes straight into a board. Laptop is two and a half years old, so I think manuf were still pushing for non-standard interfaces.

NM found one @ Newegg. NEC ND5500A, 4X DVD+R/-R, +RW/-RW, 24X16X24 $148. Not a bad deal, Dell's is $229 and doesn't support -R/RW writing. If I don't post back, soon, everything is working like a champ.

Ideas on where to buy new internal DVD Burner for Laptop

Anyone know of an online shop that carries internal slimline optical drives? My CDRW is crapping out, figured I'd get a 4X DVD+RW drive if possible. Also, can you plop in any internal drive or do OEMs have proprietary connectors? Laptop is a Presario 2810T. Thanks.

One reason why a lot of folks are having differences is due to them not tweaking things for maximum security. Good example is most AV apps disable the scanning of zipped/archived/packed files by detault. Then they wonder how they picked up a virus or why it didn't perform well on a test...
