Ruby's right. It doesn't really matter. I've used stock, AS5, Ceramique and the gloop that Thermalright supplied with a HR-05 NB heatsink. Haven't noticed any significant difference in the real world. You'd need to be testing your PC in very strict lab conditions to notice any difference...

CPU cooling for Antec 900, quad core, P5E3-Premium

I have the Antec 900 and an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro. I'm not keen on the combination. It's noisy and not as effective as the bigger coolers. You'd probably be better off going for a CPU cooler that natively accepts a 120mm fan (generally higher CFM and lower noise) over a 92mm fan...

Silencing an Antec 900

I have this case, and while I like it a lot, I am fed up with the noise it makes. I started off thinking it was fine but now, a year later, I'm not quite so pleased. Most of the noise comes from the Antec fans, but some of it comes from the "wind rush" of the air flow and the side-mounted...

Powercolor HD4870 can't clip into ASUS P5Q Pro :(

Which all brings me back to my main hypothesis: the card is not going into the case's expansion slot cleanly. If the bracket was like that originally as indicated in the photo above (where ninor indicates the bracket is crooked), I'd return it. It's meant to be straight. If it's not straight...

ninor, Take the card fuly out of the PCI-e slot. Looking at the end of the card at the metal plate where the monitor ports are, you'll see a tab on the left hand side which fits into the expansion slot on your case. The opposite side is where you'll find the hooks where you secure the card...

P5Q-E "FSB strap" mystery

Perhaps a stupid question: why are you running your E4500 at an 8x multi? Don't those chips run with 10x or 11x multis? Try lowering you fsb to 333 with max multi and see what happens.

E8600 Prime stable @ 4Ghz undervolted ;)

Impressive. That's almost 1 GHz more, for 0.5v and 10 degrees C less than my OC'd E4300. For a CPU that costs only...er...almost twice as much as the one I have!!! My usual source doesn't stock them, and the alternative UK source has them listed on pre-order at £188. Ouch...
