Are there limits to using fast ram in a slow system?

Thats a good point, I guess ddr2 800 is probably my best bet. Unless I find some 1066 for really cheap.

Are there limits to using fast ram in a slow system?

I only ask this because my computer systems just evolve over time,I haven't built a totally new system since 2000. Ive accumulated enough parts to step out of the socket 478/DDR realm into the 775/DDR2 arena, and would like to buy the fastest DDR2 ram I can buy and use it in the Dell e510...

Notebook motherboard cross reference?

I guess your right, I checked the 845mz spec sheet and it only supports 512. I didn't think there was an p4 chipset that wouldn't see at least a gig. Oh well I guess.

Notebook motherboard cross reference?

Does anyone know of a cross-reference for laptop motherboards? The reason I ask is because I have a Gateway 450SX 1.6ghz P4 that is in great condition, but it wont expand above 512 mb of ram, so I'm wondering if there are alternate BIOS's from other oems or even the mainboard manufacturer...

Detecting network cameras??

Is there a package that will sniff out network cameras and allow you to view what they are seeing? Even a win32 program would suffice. Coincidences just shouldn't happen that often. Thanks

Easy raid question

Thanks, I'm not too concerned about having 1TB exactly just basicly if the size equals the formated size of each drive X2 to equal one big drive.

Easy raid question

If I put 2 500gig sata drives in raid 0 will it equal 1TB? I remember back in the old days I built a pc with scsi raid using 4 250mb drives to create one, 1gig drive, but I really havent worked with raids since then and the tech has probably changed a bit. Thanks

promise ultra133TX2 to FastTrack TX2000 Raid?

Bummer, I just read that it can utilize a software raid option, I wonder if it would be worth it. Probably not if its anything like software modems. I would be using it in linux entirely.

How come my Verizon Business DSL is so slow?

I have the same problem here in north west Indiana with the verizon home dsl. I have the 1500MBs service and I am getting 100-350 kps My upload is where it should be 340-370 kps. I have tried Speakeasy Chicago and PcPitstop.com both with similar results. I spoke to two other people who are...

Need advice on A+ study materials

I took some of the online sample test I have found and I did well on those. Ive been using/diagosing/repairing computers/electronic since the 8088 came out. So I am kind of hoping that it will be easy for me. I think Im going to go with the book that was suggested because there seems to be good...

Need advice on A+ study materials

I had thought that A+ was worth little as well until i went looking for a computer related job and everyone wanted an A+ minimum. I guess over 10 years of computer related skills dont matter. I will investigate the book suggested Im not sure if Ive seen it yet. Thanks
