is anyone folding@home?

I personally participate in the Distributed Folding project (www.distributedfolding.org), where TA is #15 in the rankings. It's a fun project if you like stats that change a lot, although the project is looking to be over within a month or so at the current rate!

Just checked my stats on www.distributedfolding.org and noticed they have basic team support up. Team AnandTech has been created and has a whopping one member at the moment :)

Another New Distributed Computing Project

I definitely like this thing, it's fast, hasn't had any trouble with our nasty firewall here, and seems to be a very achievable goal.

what do you do?

TA_SETI RC5 Team breaks 100,000 in less than 17 days

Wow, very nice output, especially for only 2.5 weeks of work. To give you an idea on that speed, a PII 333 gets right around 1.0mkeys/s, so the output you have is equal to about 6.26 ghz of PII's.

May have lost my work herd, but new cow on the way :)

Just put in my order for a new Dell XPS Dimension B w/ a PIII 1ghz. That should make up for a bit of my lost cracking power :)

How many 'units' could this machine crunch?

Holy.... To give you an idea about the output of that thing, it would be equivalent to my (ex)work herd that consisted of ~13 machines averaging 350mhz each. It's like a whole network of power in one box :)
