*** Official Intel DP965LT Thread ***

This is a finiky motherboard from what Iv'e seen so far Doesnt work with 1.9v timing, only 1.8v so I have to exchange that, got that working now. Also, 1 IDE connector isn't bad, it just apperently doesnt work with a 3rd party ATA card (I got one and it apperently was messing up the BIOS...

Mine isn't coming till the 28th, but at least the mobo is coming before then. Got mine from a good old computer parts store. They cut me a deal on a package :)

Conroe vs AMD... uprade paths?

Im sure that when Intel releases the 4 core CPU in '07 that they will have at least SOME of them that work with LGA775 if they havn't introduced a new socket by then. But I really doubt that they will. The point about build for today until it becomes obsolete is quite a good idea. Core 2's will...

Install New CPU, Have to Reformat?

Ugh, this one was always a tough one. If your using an OEM OS (like one that came from Dell, Compaq, etc.) then you'll need a new to purchase a new OS disk. As far as reformatting goes, i didn't think so. Ive installed alot of new major parts and windows didnt freak out. I think you should be...

I bought mine local, and im just gonna wait till the 28th to pick it up. As far as new egg goes, did anyone else notice that the E6300 is still listed as having 4M of L2 while the E6400 is listed as having 2 ? I feel as though NewEgg has just botched this up uber-bad. I got my E6600 for 380...

Direct X 10 and windows XP

Personally, this is a big driving force behind me getting Vista, I've heard about the astronomical performance increases and definatly think it'd be worth it. But it would be nice to see a version of this for XP (even if its scaled back) because people will still be using XP for quite some time...

So... Whats Your Conroe Rig

My siggy below has the whole setup. Im using some old components from my 3500+ system to make this work. Since I'm an old geezer behind the times of new Hard Drive connectors, i also picked up an UltraATA card so i can connect all of my devices, so there goes one PCI slot right there, oh well...
