They have said to me that you will have to log in to the Microsoft website from your Windows 7 or 8 PC.
I asked them this specifically and the sales rep assured me it would be the case.
You will get a key and can do a clean install from an ISO.
I have asked MS technical support this and they confirmed this will definitely be how it works. You have to use your current OS (7 or 8) to get the key in the first place then you can clean install from the ISO.
I think a central store for traditional programmes would be a great idea.
Look at Steam with games. The thought of Steam not existing and just dealing with all the different publishers through their own websites would be terrible compared to the convenience of Steam
I think you'll be able to sort out your Win7 problems; I've been completely fine.

It's not yet known but my guess is that if they're going to hold back any features from the standard version, they'll be available through the Windows app store rather than as a "pro" version.
Isn't the only problem here is that he's trying to use an OEM copy on a different machine which isn't legal?

If the license agreement didn't say anything about the software only being usable for a limited period of time then someone should be able to use it 14 years later or 24 years later.

Basically just confirms my point - they're letting pirates install the software without having to even crack it first but its legal status will still be "illegal"
Basically it seems like they can't be bothered trying to fight the crackers anymore but are still using the scare tactics that make some people buy windows for non-moral reasons
