It has both, but they're both enabled -- in the BIOS and the jumper(s) as well.
I'm stumped. The POST speech reporter is working through the speakers at boot-up, but Windows won't even recognize the hardware.
Weird.
The Horta.
Howdy!
It's been a year since I've posted -- or thereabouts -- but here goes!
I have an Asus P4T533-C mobo all decked out with GBLAN and 6CH Audio. Unforunately I can't get the audio hardware to be recognized in either Win2K or WinXP Pro. I've downloaded the latest drives and everything looks...
I think yours. I run MBM at all times and after being on for MANY hours and "normal" use (ie: surfing, Word, Excel, etc) my temps read 25C for MB and 28C for CPU with all stock HSF (though using AS2). I would submit that something indeed is WAY wrong with your temps. They seem whacked out...
OK, I dropped down to 120/40 still at 3x and get 2879 nice and stable. I was concerned about the FSB at 140, but ran P95 for over 10 straight hours without an error. Using MBM the temp quickly went from 28C to 46C but levelled off there. I guess that stock HSF will have to go. I was surprised...
The BIOS reports (and stops asking for F1 to continue) 1.71 or so fluctuating between 1.68 and 1.72. It did this even if I set it to 1.550. Not sure if that's what you mean or not. It the board giving the CPU what it needs? Not sure why it would say over 1.7+ if I set it to 1.60. Any ideas...

Title says it all. Retail box 2.4/400 running on Asus P4T533-C with OCZ PC1066 in full stock configuration, stock HSF (using AS2) running at 3000/125 - have CPUID shot that needs posting. Bumped up VCORE to 1.6 from stock 1.5. Running <40C. Tried full 3200/133 but only at 1.55OV and failed to...
The temps are with the box open, so I don't think it's the RAM blocking CPU-1 that makes it a few degrees warmer. I just think CPU-2 sits idle most of the time, making it inherently cooler. You'd think for the extra money, and the fact that AMD is chasing the small enterprise market (no 4-way)...
I just REFRESHED in the BIOS. What a freakin' counterintuitive arrangement THAT is!
Anyway, after the refresh it was 46C for CPU-0 and 50C for CPU-1
How are these temps? While certainly better than the 78C earlier reading, 50C with the case open on a cool night ain't looking so hot (well...you...
Ahhhsoooo.....
I will refresh, get MBM, and post any results. Thanks for the tips. That's what I was looking for. I will let you know if it changes anything.
The Horta.
I understand that it's always a good idea to start with the obvious, but I've built a countless number of servers and workstations, so they certainly *seem* to be mounted correctly and--at the risk of sounding ungrateful--of course I took the plastic film off ;-)
This is the first time I've...
I just put together a system with a retail Tyan S2460 "Tiger MP" motherboard and two (2) AMD Athlon MP 2000+ retail processors with stock HSFs. The BIOS on the S2460 is reporting BOTH processors running at 78C!!!!! The system is uncovered in a cool room with plenty of airflow. Is this a common...
Here's the hardware I just bought:
Asus P4T533C
Retail Box P4 2.4A 400FSB - Batch: L213A876 - Ver #: A86787-002 - Date: 08/09/2002 - Malaysia
2x 256M PC1066 RD
Swiftech MC462A + Delta 80mm Screamer + Arctic Silver II
I don't know if it's a realistic expectation, but I'm hoping to just run the...
