Doesn't really fit into your deal, but I've been trying to sell a GTX 750 for $85. New in box. Seems like everyone wants the Ti instead haha.

FarCry 4 and the death of the dual core CPUs in gaming

Too bad FC4 is massively broken for a lot of the PC playerbase. It likes to crash before it even loads the first part of the game. Sadly I'm one of the affected. Thankfully I didn't pay money for the game. (Came with GTX 970)

Newegg Black Friday Deal Leak SUCKS (EDIT: getting better now)

I'm still hoping to get a good price on a 256GB SSD. They've been going for around $100 retail, so with luck we'll see some pop up for $75 during BF/Cyber Monday/Week.

New video card?

If you do decide to go the 750 route, I've got a GTX 750 for sale(asking $90 shipped), new in box. Got it as part of a combo deal on Newegg but already had a better card for the setup. If he's still running an 8800, you've got a lot of room there for growth, and I'm sure he'd appreciate any.

I'm resigning from my big-corporate job on Friday.

Every company seems to, at some point these days, forget that the employees are what drive the company. If no one worth a crap wants to work for you, then you're left without product, and without customers.

Cop in my town got busted for littering.

I'm inclined to agree that cops (not all, but too many of them) are getting a bit out of control. Once upon a time people felt safer and happy around police. These days more people are paranoid because it seems as if they're all out to find any little thing to ticket you with, or in some way...

Vasilopita - Anyone everyone done this?

I would say I tend to not believe in such things, but my grandfather on my father's side is one of the luckiest people I've known. He never wins big ticket things like the lotto, but more often than not, he wins local drawings. I on the other hand, have won maybe one thing my entire life.

The drought... 2 problems, one easy, the other not so much

Seems like you could just build desal plants paired with dedicated solar power plants to offset any power/climate issues. As for the remnants of the desal process, figure out some way to sell it to rich people as a luxury. Maybe coat a luxury car in it and call it 'premium green'.
