Need reccomendations for a laptop.

I was just looking at the new Alienware notebooks and man, I am impressed. I just build one and for under $3000 you can get the fastest Pentium M, 2gb of DDR2, 256mb 6800GO, 120gb SATA and 17" WideUXGA 1920 x 1200 LCD. Wow.

Windows 2000 - Server or Workstation?

Well I was leary about this kind of app as well but PCMag rated it above the same type of software put out by Norton, far above Norton, and from the results it has shown I am impressed. It works. Thanks for the input though, workstation or "desktop" it is. Makes perfect sense.

Windows 2000 - Server or Workstation?

I recently downloaded Advanced System Optimizer and I love it. It found 302 registery errors and fixed them, got rid of 119mb worth of dead flies and other bs of the like, but then it asked me wether I want to run Windows 2K as a server or a workstation. Which should I choose and why? Thanks.

PS3 can do 120fps. Amazing.

30fps is needed for smooth and 60-70fps is needed for good, like another user said. However, PS3 will be hooked up to HDTV systems which have a maximum refresh rate of 60hz so what's the point of running 120 when current technology only allows refresh rates that support 60? Also, the human eye...

Whatever happened to RDRAM?

As far as I know the latency issues was due to Intel using the Northbridge as the memory controller pushed the latency higher. The technology itself, as I understand it, puts RDRAM and DDR-SDRAM in similar catagories when it comes to latency.

Whatever happened to RDRAM?

I remember when the P4 first was introduced it used RDRAM which ran at a superfast 800mhz. I haven't seen much of it in years and as far as I know there isn't a new cpu that utilizes this type of ram, why not? I know that when it was first out it was very spendy but at 800mhz it's...

Wow, I was just looking at Sager Notebooks and their 5720 offers Dell XPS level of performence for much less money. Hmm.

Need reccomendations for a laptop.

According to CyperPowerSystems I can get a notebook from them with a gig of ram, 2ghz Turion64, and the 15.4" screen, dvd, cd-rw and a 128mb ATI X700 mobility, but the screen is 1280x800 which I'm not down with, and the hard disk is only offered at 7200rpm in 60gig fasion. Hmm.

Can you overclock an AMD to 5ghz and have it run smoothly provided you have the proper cooling?

Are they using Intel or AMD chips for the 5+ gigahertz levels? And stable, wow. Must be a monster system.

Is it possible to skin Windows 2000?

That's dissapointing, but WB5 sounds really promising though by the time it's out I'll be using my new laptop with XP running the Mac OS theme from the ground level.

I remember a guy doing that as well. He cut the bottom out of a 5-gallon pail and placed it over the mobo while wafts of liquid nitrogen blew down on the mobo. Without a graphics card he played some FPS at like 300+ frames per second. It was ridiculous.
