I have an eVGA 6600GT and I am totally satisfied with it. However it seems to run a bit hot, 51 celcius at idle, ~80 under load. Do you guys have any better numbers?
My old PC has a XFX GF4 Ti4200 128mb, and it has been serving me for ~3 yrs without any issue.
I don't believe 256MB brings a big performance improvement over 128Mb, unless you usually play at high resolutions such as 1600*1200 with 4x AA. By the time games require 256Mb, I think that the new generation of GeForce GPUs will already be out.
I just finished assembling my system... Nforce 4 ultra Motherboard, Venice 3000+, eVga 6600GT PCIe. I get 3556 in 3dmark 2005 without any overclocking and without any changes to the default image quality: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=849857
