I have always just used booted and format from the xp cd and never had any problems.
Just have it write over the previous installation of windows and format using ntfs if your hard drive can support it.
I reformatted my computer last night and reintstalled windows xp. The first time I tried to do an unattended setup and I think that it started to install onto my D: drive. I didn't want that so on the next reboot, I reran the process manually and installed it onto the C: where I want it. Now...
THis shows you that even people that "know" can make mistakes. The colors on the keyboard and mouse plugs were opposite of the ps/2 ports. So essentially they were plugged in backwards...crazy...
Thank you everyone for all of your help...
This is the first time that I have tried overclocking. I have an athlon 2100+ running on an expox 8rda+ with 512mb 3200 DDR. To overclock, all I did was change the FSB from 133 to 166 boosting my cpu to 2171 mhz or athlon 2700 equivalent. I have the memory running at 200 mhz. My system is...
I get a pregap error and then the error message that it could not make the cd. The only way that I can get it to work properly is to disconnect the other drive.
Have you tried right clicking on the desktop, choosing properties, and changing the wallpaper in there?
If that didn't work, did you try right clicking on a picture and choosing...set as wallpaper?

I'm trying to remember what the problem was when Ihad a similar situation.
If the second hard drive is an older one, sometimes there is a different jumper setting for a single hard drive as opposed to a master.
Is the hard drive connected to the end of the ide cable as opposed to the...
I seem to recall several posts by people saying that the Ecs boards were not that stable but could be wrong.
I had a problem with mine locking up following the ram check after I swapped hard drives.

More than a month ago I bought a case, albatron MB, amd 2600+ and ordered some 3200 ocz ram from Newegg. I had trouble getting it to install windows xp and then had trouble getting it to run stable at a meager FSB of 100 for both the cpu and ram. It would keep rebooting and I could never get...
I am running the newest BIOS and my temperatures got up to around 43C for the CPU and 39C for the System.
