Is text good on a 22inch widescreen ?

dpi calculator: http://www.raydreams.com/prog/dpi.aspx The lower the number, the better the text readability. 22" WS are all 90 dpi, 19" non-WS are even better at 86.3 dpi.

Lol wtf? Size of installer: 843 MB Size of installed game: 757 MB Free space demanded on Windows drive to install: 2.8 GB!!! Seriously, just to install, when the installer is finished you get the space back.

What do you mean? Maybe you should install cat 8.3 like you have been told twice in this thread and then tell us about your games.

Why would anything get stretched when switching from a 16:10 res to another 16:10 res? Anyway, get cat 8.3 for the new settings and also check if your monitor menu has any settings to control AR.

I agree that there is no point at all of partial decode for AVC but for VC-1 this isn't the case. Without partial dxva the microsoft decoder can't play HD DVD VC-1 smoothly even on a 2.8 GHz AMD X2. Cyberlink can but it won't work outside of PDVD (I tried the linked version but it didn't change...

microsoft: terrible performance without dxva, despite multithreading, problem for many ATI cards libavcodec: single core only, no interlaced support cyberlink: doesn't work outside of PDVD arcsoft: only connects to its own splitter, no deinterlacing auric: maybe there are some ATI cards...

There's no such thing as purevideo drivers. What you are talking about is the nvidia mpeg-2 decoder. It's not bad but the cyberlink on is better for TV streams. And it won't help for VC-1 or AVC. One reason people say ATI is better is because nvidia doesn't support full VC-1 decode (only part...

It's not about resolution, it's about codec and bitrate. You have to make sure you use the right software for the right video. short overview AVC/h264: best software decoder is CoreAVC, best hardware decoder is Cyberlink (only newest generation cards support this, and many pirated videos...

is there any loss when converting a HD movie?

1) download pirated, downscaled, low bitrate version of high quality movie 2) reencode it to an even lower bitrate 3) ... 4) profit! Seriously, a DVD would look much better. And I mean a real DVD, not some Xvid crap.

Temps way to high?

4 of 18 threads on the first page of this forum are people complaining about temps even though they have no real problem to report. IMO this place needs a sticky or some rules to stop this madness.

In general I agree. But if you look at real industry standards and see how they're going then you can't really say they're doing much better. Avsforums is still full of endless threads about problems with Blu-Ray playback. Nvidia and ATI are still bringing out drivers with broken dxva...
