The checkbox of "Disable Digital Output" in Volumn -> Advanced control is unchecked, I assume that means digital output is enabled.

That's what I see in some forums. I sure don't see any red light in mine. I am just a bit surprised and disappointed that a notebook as recent as T60 doesn't provide SPDIF.

I want to know if the headphone-out jack on my T60 carries SPDIF or not. It probably doesn't, since the product page doesn't say anything about SPDIF: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/supp....do?lndocid=MIGR-62722 but I'd like to know for sure, is there a way to tell from the physical look...

Solaris

I thought the OP meant "It (or the combination) is not used by many people, therefore it will be more secure.", which we know is not true, or, "It's not used by average Joes, therefore it would be cool to use it.", which is Ok. Solaris isn't the most secure OS out of box ("secure by default"...

What do you mean "perimeter ready"? Solaris is not "exotic" for you? To OP, go for Squid. I don't have much experience either, but was able to download Squid source, compile, config and run it on Solaris in no time recently. Just follow the documentation.

So I read the paper, despite its eye-catching but unprofessional title :) It's a nice summary of various issues NFS had through its progress. To quote the author, So does the author think NFS still sucks today? Probably not.

LINUX dist for laptop & workstation

MATLAB does not have a Solaris x86/64 version. Your school most likely runs on Solaris SPARC. Always check system requirements for your applications first.
