Thanks for the replies dclive and Cerb; I kept on searching and I found a compelling reason to forget about XP HOME, Microsoft will stop supporting in the end of this year, unless they change their mind in the meantime for me that makes XP HOME a no go!

Quick question... from a "home user" point of a view is there any actual drawback in using XP HOME instead of XP PRO? I know everything there is to know about the technical differences my problem is understanding if there any real differences in day to day usage (web browsing, gaming, word...

What was the first OS you've ever used?

I think it was CP/M on an Amstrad PCW (don't recall the model).... shortly after DOS 3.01 on the Amstrad PC-1512! But there was also the Basic of the Timex, the ZX spectrum and the Commodore 64! I still remember some of my friends who had Commodore Amiga A500's and others the Atari ST520's...

Toshiba Satellite M30X or M40X

Hello all, I have been looking around and can't seem to be able to make up my mind... The M30X has a PM 725, i855 and a MR9700, the M40X has a PM 730, i915 and a MRX300 everthing is pretty much the same (except the DVR writer on the M40X has dual layer support). Which one to get? I do...

Nero installation - multiple computers?

Well I know for a fact that Nero 5.x contained a database of warezed serials.... so it's to assume that they have improved that to add some kind of online checking!

Help w/ Dual Boot: Xp and Linux redhat

Anyone heard of Lilo on a floppy... boots almost as fast as bootiing from disk, and you don't have to worry about messing the MBR. Which, btw, as cleverhandle points, is easy enough to fix these days( even in old days :))

Linux no longer boots .. successfully.

Really strange issue.... are you certain you are not using some weird software in windows that may be messing with Linux's partition? Perhaps you should also consider install it LiLo on a floppy and use that to boot (assuming you have Lilo, since you didn't state the distro!!
