My previous Ballistix (DDR not DDR2) got nixed. It turned out that the motherboard (an ASUS) was overvolting the RAM by 8%. I wonder if similar problems with voltage regulation are causing the problems?
It appears that the biggest single difference is running dual channel, and even that's not that big (7.7% on 3DMark05 from my own tests). 2Gb makes little difference except on certain games/programs (but that number is increasing all the time). The rest of the memory holy grails, 1T, tight...
What it says in the title - is it worth getting some of the new expensive 1Gb sticks or should I just go for something like Geil Value and use a divider?
I have an Audigy 2, and for the small price the additional benefits were worth it to me. I put it in Slot 2 though, having long ago worked out that Creative cards are best in that slot.
I doubt whether I'd use an SBLive though - they should go down as one of the worst built pieces of junk in...
You can enable the extra pipelines/shaders with Rivatuner on most cards. I thought the GTOs came without the SLI connector though. I'm certain the first models didn't have one - I got sent one (which I RMA'd as not bring what I ordered and got a full GT in replacement at no extra cost).
Could be. Are you putting the memory in the right slot? Is it seated correctly (I mean you have done thsi before right?). Are you earthing yourself before touching the RAM?
Actually the last 4 settings, well 2 of them anyway, have a fairly significant effect on bandwidth. But if you OC then you probably don't want to be touching them. I prefer to loosen the timings rather than run at a divider or 2T - as far as possible.
