I purchased this motherboard to revamp an HTPC I built a while back. I want to use the integrated video, rather than adding a video card to it for heat dissapation and noise reasons.
System specs:
Antec Aria case, 300 W PSU
A8N-VM CSM
AMD A64 3500+
2x512 MB of Patriot 2.5CL RAM

I got the case, put in a Shuttle motherboard with an AthlonXP 2500+.
I had a helluva time getting it to run. It just wouldn't switch on. I noticed when unplugging the PSU that I was hearing a little noise, so I am getting some power through there, but the switch didn't seem to work. So I hit...
Hmmmm.
Odd.
I would suspect a firewall is cutting her off. If she can ping outside your local net, then she has a connection. It sounds like she's getting framented packets and a lot of deflections.
If you are running WinXP, make sure that the MS firewall is turned off. I'd also check your...
More on that....
If you are running a switch, chances are you will need to open some ports to get it to run correctly. Diablo sends on one port and receives on another. If one port is open (say the send port) and the other is closed, the game will time out.
I'd recommend a D-Link access point/swtich. It's easy to configure and gives you 4 ports and WAN capability.
This is the one I have http://www.dlink.com/products/broadband/di714/
It's been bulletproof for me so far.
Linksys also makes some that are supposed to be pretty good.
Are you using a Wireless LAN or regular ethernet?
Is she using WinXP on the Laptop?
If wireless LAN, did you add this after market or did it come installed?
What brand of WLAN card?
There are a lot of issues with wireless LAN and WinXP, mostly due to the fact that the WLAN card...
A7V-266E.
The Nvidia chipset is not performing as expected yet. I'm not sure if it is a driver issue or what, but it is a bit of a disappointment.
The A7V-266E has much better memory bandwidth than the A7V-266.
My USB mouse works fine, but I cannot use my USB port to synch my Ipaq. It locks the machine up completely every time. CTRL-ALT-DEL does nothing, the only solution is to hit the power button and start over. It's fine if I use a serial connection.
I've started using my laptop to synch my...
<< My impressions of the A7V266-E: This time last week I was on an Abit KT7A with a AXIA at 1.4 and chugging along happily. My boss says "Here is $600 go build a server for me". Needless to say work is now a proud owner of a KT7A paired with a Duron and I am now in the DDR crowd. I started out...
Well, it seems to be working now.
If it dies again under the same circumstances, chances are something is burning out my RAM, either a faulty voltage regulator on the mobo or a bad power supply.
Keep your fingers crossed.
One thing I noticed after running some tests is that my memory...
I put the new RAM in and the computer is running. Cross your fingers.
I just hope there isn't some defect in the motherboard or the powersupply that is going to keep screwing up my RAM.
Regarding problems:
Everything installed fine. The only new parts were the mobo and Corsair PC2400 RAM. It ran fine for 5 days, then crapped out. I kept getting BSOD'd to death when I would start the computer. I kept getting a PFN_LIST_CORRUPT error. The MS KB is more or less useless, but...
Not a thing. I fired it up in the morning, it worked fine. Turned it on last night, BSOD all over the place. I broke down and bought some more RAM today, we'll see if that helps.
I've never seen RAM go bad AFTER it has been installed and running unless it was overclocked. Mine wasn't and it...
