Also for updating the Bios, Asus has a great utility that comes on your disk and enables you to update the Bios from Windows. Bios ver. after 102 should work OK for most RAM so you should be good to go from the the box.
Wow. They responded. That is cool. Kudos to Newegg, as I too have been really pleased with their customer service, other online stores could learn from their example. Plus they have a ton of stuff.
I found one really cheap DVD burner that did not even seem to play CDs on it, let alone burn them. So don't just assume it will, there is no standards set. I will agree that the Sony one is the best right now, but I won't buy one until the price drops a bit more.
I have waited for new technology only to found out when its released, that it really is hype and just fizzles.
DDR is not really double, my old SDRam on a Iwill board is faster than most DDR2100 is. Hyperthreading is not all that Hyper. Dual Memory Channels don't double your memory speed...
Returned the WesternDigital after waiting 3 hours for a customer service rep, and they told me that they dont offer support for their drives in a RAID array.
Bought the Maxtor Ultras 80G with 8mb cache. No problems and they are super fast.
I run a Athlon 2400 XP and have the FSB up to 333 and the processor O/C to Athlon 2800 speeds, 2.28Ghz, and it runs at about 38C under load.
The Athlon Rev. B chips can all be unlocked by the new Nforce boards, so you dont have to worry about any wire or metallic pen tricks, or voiding your...
RAID does increase the transfer rate for video editing, but as was stated earlier you do increase your risk of a drive failure (one drive fails and you lose the data for both). There is a good article in Storagereview.com that has some figures for improvement.
I run RAID, but I also run...
I am using Samsung DDR here, it works very well, and runs cool and stable. From the reviews I have read Geil works fine in P4 systems but not in AMD for some reason.
If money was not an issue, I would go with Mushkin. The last Corsair I bought had problems and I had to return.
So if money...
Its better than a R&D cut back, ehhh? That would have me worried.
I agree that AMD has pushed Intel to put out a better product, without AMD we would be still seeing the P4s that were slower than the PIIIs, and we would be at a max 1.5 ghz instead of pushing 3 ghz. Also, if AMD were not...
Dual monitors here, and same problem. Its my opinion that the game has to be designed to use them, so hopefully game developers will pick up this thread and add some code to make it all good. Let me know if you do find a work around.
Any developers care to chime in ?
I was not clear enough, no, I did not install the Via drivers, I was mearly using that as a comparision to how differently the Nvidia drivers install. Although I have installed XP Pro only about 10 times, I dont remember an SW driver option but it seems there is no way to uninstall it. Also...
OK, I am a little confused. I cannot find an "SW" Driver in the bunch, and even if I did, there is no prompt like in Via Drivers to choose which ones you want to install, the All-in-One has a mind of its own and once it starts it never asks you anything, such as what drivers you want to...
