Who here misses Half-Life

The games never get to old to play. It's us that get to old and to busy. I might be taking things to far but I have a rig I run DOS games on, one for 98 and one for XP. Hell I even have an XboX. If I'm playing a game and my wife comes in and wants to play, there are plenty of machines. Honey...

Remember the old intel 233 pc's?

No your not Slammy1. I had a DX4-100 Turbo CPU I gamed on. It was vamped up so high the turbo buttons didn't work. Those were the times. I still have 4 key boards that don't have a windows key, now there goes my age. I think I'll fire it up and play a little Blake Stone. See yah....

Bro just ordered a laptop with 8 ns RAM instead of 30 ns RAM for mo $$$

Yeah! Been there, done that, got a t-shirt!!! Tell the customer what he wants to hear then breakout the lubricant. It would have sounded great with my DX4-100. Remember boys and girls use .exe to play the games. And we're off!!!

Any generalizations about external HDs I should know about?

I've used external HDs for several years and have had no troubles with them. They are a little slow but nothing you can't work with. Just get a good brand like Western Digital or Seagate, so if you do get a bad one you won't have problems returning it or getting it fixed. Hope this helps.

Best Mp3 Player for a laptop hd?

Thesurge, if you have to have the laptop on your lap, put it on a wooden cutting board. That will give the laptop room to breath and get the heat off you legs. I have been running media 10 and have never had a problem. I know it's not a MP3 but thought it might help. Hope this helps.

Try powernotebooks.com, that's where I bought my laptop. Gaming machines aren't cheap no matter who you buy from. Hope this helps. edit: Haven't heard any bad info about Ibuypower and cyberpower.

I agree with Dman877. With your rig you should have at least 1 USB 1.0 port. Hook up an external HHD and go. And if you only have 1 USB port, go to Walie World and get a externally AC powered USB expander (4 ports) and start adding on. Kind of like building a house but no windows. I didn't say...

power supply: 5400 rpm vs. 7200 rpm?

On the second machine how large was the PSU and how much ram did it have? Personaly, I have never had XP run very well with less than 512 mb memory. If it worked in another machine then I'd say you are first short on ram and then light on power. I have only purchased one premanufactured machine...
