5850 for a 4870x2

Hehe, this is an RMA guys, he's NEVER going to get a HD5870 for a HD4870X2. I considder the 5870 and even the 5850 superior to the 4870X2 is every way. If you can get a 5850 as a replacement, then please do, you wont regret it. But don't get your hopes up for 5870 let alone a 5970.

Aint it a little soon for AMD next generation cards? HD5xxx isn't even available in decent quantities here in europe.

Cool video, finally something from nVidia! Based on their graph in the video you can see the GTX480 will compete with an OCed HD5870 instead of a HD5970 like alot of fanboys said :) GTX480 seems to pewn the HD5870 in tesselation though.

Anand's 5830 Review!! Benches and all!! Anand is disappoint with this card!!

Is everyone really THAT disappointed with the HD58xx series? I upgraded my HD4850 to a HD5850 and it's the best upgrade I ever made. Why is everyone so depressed? HD5850 is not overpriced nor underperforming in my opinion. It's over double the performance of a HD4850 but costs "only" 60&#37...

I think there is no difference? Both stock clocks, stock memory, stock cooler and no aftermarket PCB design. Go with the cheapest? Maybe the cheaper one doesn't have the DiRT 2 coupon?

Asus HD 5850 overclocking advice please

Start with upping the core and do benchmarks and stability tests while you're at it. I use Furmark for the "stability" testing although it's not recommended I find it a good and easy to use tool to spot artifacts or dots or whatever might pop-up while overclocking your video card. Memory...

PCIE v.2.0 vs PCIE v 1.0

Last time I checked the HD5970 only performed 1-2% less in a PCI-e 1.0 slot. I think the bandwidth isn't a bottleneck yet for most cards, maybe soon it will be one though. If you're curious, you can see how a certain card performs in an X8 slot, I was told that's close to a PCI-e 1.0 slot.

Sup with the 5890 and 5830. Everybody in this thread and forum seems to have tested this card but hell, those cards do not even exist yet so stop comparing to those 2 cards.
