Personally, I will never use Nvidia GPUs for a media server or the like. I've only had bad experiences. AMD drivers have been ok for me. I haven't tried an Intel one yet but I should.
Not only were the comments you made off topic they were a mod call out. Enjoy a a few days off.

For the price the 970 is working out well. Close to 780 Ti speeds with lower power consumption. It's definitely not worth it if you already have a 780 or 290. The power saving varies depending on the task. The power consumption can rival a 780 in GPU intensive tasks.
I'm probably going to end...
VaporX runs about as cool and uses as much power as the 780 Ti and it over clocks well.

Yes there was a disaster when the card was released. Yes the disaster was mitigated.
The grass is always greener on the other side. I've had problems with both my Nvidia and AMD cards. I don't double AMD will have something to keep their dGPU lineup going but I honestly feel that they're more focused on iGPU for the future. Nvidia is looking to add a custom bus. The long term...
Errr I'm not trying to belittle you but let's use some common sense here. We're not talking about i5 750s or 6950s. We're talking about a 290. 290 were out for a few months before dropping down to $200 for ref and $300 for non-ref (I got one for $280). The card still had warranty. I've had...
To check which version of DirectX is on your computer
Open DirectX Diagnostic Tool by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, typing dxdiag in the search box, and then pressing Enter.
Click the System tab, and then, under System Information, check the DirectX version number...
The 290 was the entry to the high end for about $200 - $300. With coupon stacking/deals/2nd hand cards you'd get something that rivals the higher end cards with cost up to 2X as much.
The 970 simply took over that role now. I bought one and recommend the 970 over the 290 now. Give credit...
There is no guarantee what a 285X might be. On a related note:

Can you name our first product that processed graphics independently of the CPU? #FutureIsAMD
Hopefully their new card is better than their marketing.
AMD claims it has the fastest card:

I'd be surprised if AMD didn't have a faster card than the 980 or even 980 Ti.
I wouldn't be surprised if they don't want 800-1000 watt psu.
IMO AMD is just going to just take a beating in direct GPU for as long as the eye can see. I personally see AMD rising to the top when they have stacked RAM on a iGPU.
tweaktown shows 4k is falling a bit short but definitely competitive. Highest clocked 290X trades blows with 980 at 4K. Personally, I'd get the 980 still. The difference between 27 on a 980 and 34 fps on a 290x is still crap experience IMO... although the $400 price tags on the 290x is starting...
