I'd say AMD needs a direct hit, if margins and supplies allow, they need to undercut Nvidia where they can. If the leaked benchmarks hold, I would say Big Navi is more of a Ryzen2 opportunity than a Ryzen3 opportunity.
3dfx Voodoo2. I still have it stored away in a box with my 3C905-TX NIC and my US Robotics 56k Courier external modem (along with other miscellany from the era).
Treat it like a major OS update. I recommend reading the release notes carefully, don't be first, backup, have license keys / installation media ready and make sure you have plenty of time to sort out any issues if they occur.
Whether 1440p is 'worth it's depends a lot on your preferred monitor size and how much workspace you have available.
For me, dual 27" / 1440p monitors is a sweet spot for my setup. I run native resolution on both monitors for productivity as well as when gaming on my 144Hz monitor.

I just migrated my gaming PC over to a mini ITX case and used a Gigabyte GA-H110-D3A to get some more life out of my i5-6600k. It supports 6th and 7th gen CPUs. It doesn't support overclocking, but it's a solid board and you can find them for under $100...
There is potential for good of course, but the hype is being exploited right now. Hopefully crypto currencies can abandon the proof-of-work model sooner rather than later. There are far better ways to expend (or preserve) finite material resources than PoW crypto mining.
Apparently Nvidia and AMD are taking a bit of a hit on Wall Street due to the expectation that video card demand (for mining) will decrease. It would be interesting see what happens if the Chinese miners start dumping video cards on eBay (if not mining rigs in the entirety).
I can't seem to find a review where someone actually used this feature. Qnap does say you have to install their software to use it, so it's not clear whether it shows up as a standard USB device or not. Seems like all the NAS reviews out there (at best) simply list features or are (at worst)...
I'm shopping for a DAS or NAS. I could get by with a FW or TB DAS with my Mac Mini, but the NAS option is compelling. I like the idea of spending a bit more for 4-bays and growing into it. I'm more familiar with Synology and have been reading up on the DS418, DS418Play and DS918+ (the latter...
I can't help but think that this is a technology demonstration in search of a mass market... e.g. Newly funded F2P/P2W gaming company trying to differentiate themselves from all the other F2P/P2W casual games... Cast your game to your 4K TV for only 2.5 credits per hour!
The CE manufacturers have really confused the issue by marketing 4K panels as the next step up, when the real next step up (at least the HDR spec minimums) is a panel that supports extended color palette, high dynamic range AND 4K resolution. Layer on Dolby Vision and things get even more...
No, not since the days of CRT monitors. I'd probably just play in windowed mode at a lower resolution if I couldn't turn down the game's graphics settings enough. This is a big reason why I bought a QHD monitor instead of a 4K monitor recently, I knew I wouldn't own a video card capable of...
If this card were meant to tide you over for a year, then I'd say saving a few bucks and getting the 1060 may make sense. However if you're planning on keeping it for three years, then I'd definitely go with the 4GB RX-480 for your 1080p gaming needs. The 480 will have better legs over that...
