I had Twitch stream open on 2nd monitor [in Chrome], on Source quality, and noticed clear system slowdown when I tried to do anything CPU intensive like e.g. unpack large .zip. This one Twitch stream [read: Adobe Flash] was using ~55% of CPU as average.
Doesn't matter if HW Acceleration is...
Ditched that Intel software and redid OC.
i5 6600K @ 4.4GHz with core Volts being 1.3, after doing several hours of gaming + running RealBench system does seem stable.
Did some OC testing on i5 6600K and used Intel Extreme Tuning Utility to adjust values. Ran IntelBurnTest as initial stability test. Cooling solution is Fractal Design Kelvin S24.
I'm far from experienced overclocker so setting may and do have room for improvement, don't burn me on stake...
Kinda regretting that I posted anything about my upcoming rig, didn't realize how much I would get criticized for getting i5 over i7. That said last time I build was early 2010 and took i5 ;)
Edit: Also I know how ridiculous this may sound, but going even that lousy 100€ over budget...
I may have spent good deal of money on that HW, but same time I still had budget that I didn't want go over. Either invest less in GPU and get i7 or invest more in GPU and get i5, those were choices from which I was picking as I had set my mind on other stuff.
I decided to invest more in GPU...
Putting it together tomorrow after getting up from bed, it's almost 11PM local time so lacking motivation to build it half tired against night :D Will definitely post some impressions after I get it up and running.
Total cost was just hair above 2000, incl. 24% VAT.
Will share...
But I still don't quite see your point. Why I should be interested in GPU performance when reading CPU benchmark? I want to know how CPU affects gaming performance if and when game X hits against CPU instead of GPU. If I want to know how Gigabyte 980Ti G1 performs in games then I would read GPU...
Could someone explain to me why some people want gaming benches to hit GPU bottleneck and be GPU benches when these benches should be about Skylake CPU performance?
Webhallen isn't Finnish company even when it delivers to Finland with reasonable price and has very clumsily translated website :b Webhallen is Swedish company and many don't consider its stock as stock within Finland.
When I look stock of local stores I look up stores like Jimms and...
Finland seems to have shortage of i7 6700's and delivery time looks to be ~20 days, estimate. i5 6600's are in supply and easily available.
I got i5 750 @ 3,8GHz way back when and it has kept me in gaming all the way to this day. Either ancient Lynnfield is somehow super good CPU or i5 has...
It will be such shame if OC requires delidding and replacing TIM, something I'm not confident in doing. Will be interesting to see what kind temps I get with Kelvin S24 as cooler, without and with OC applied to 6600K.
Both kits are rated as CL15, they are Kingston HyperX Fury series. Store has 15-17-17 as latency for 4x4GB, no latency told for 2x8GB kit.
I know that with 4x4GB I use up all slots => expansion potential used up, but then going for 16GB should last me good amount of years as I use PC for...
