How good is the onboard sound chip on the Asus P4PE ?

The onboard sound is ok, except I get an occasional pop. I have a SB Live, which I will install eventually. But for onboard sound I think it rates better than most.

Many thanks, I will get that card, and suggest he let me "borrow" the computer for a week, and do a clean install. I assume that I can use my WINXP disc, and just use his number to activate it. For the most part, the bundled software is things I already have, and if it isn't he can either buy...

When Is the 2.53Ghz Price Drop?

OEM versions have shorter warranties, usually from the Vendors ranging from 15 - 60 days, and do not include the fan/heatsinks. While the Retail versions come in the box from Intel, include the heatsink and fan, and have a 3 year warranty.

Any good under $50 PCI Video Cards?

Staples has a PNY Verto TNT2-M64 32MB PCI Video Card for $30 this week. I know that TNT2 is old technology, but given what they need it to do, would this be a good choice?

But then logically it would have just tried the CD-ROM at the 3rd device, since the first two didn't contain the OS. But instead it just told me there was no OS. It only worked when I chose the CD-ROM as the first device. Hence why I think having 4 listed is a waste, since it didn't try to...

On Abit MBs any drive you select as a boot drive will be tried, evidentally for Asus it only does the first one. So I had to hit the plus sign a couple times to move the CD to the head of the group. Once XP was installed I went back in and moved it back to its rightful spot. Not sure why they...

I just bought an ASUS P4PE/R/L/F/SATA Motherboard, P4 2.4Ghz 533Mhz (No OC), 2x 512 MB Crucial PC 2700 DDR. I currently own a SB Live Value and Cambridge SoundWorks DeskTop Theater DTT2500. Should I install the SB Live, or just use the onboard sound?
