Corsair don't do the memory I had any more, but they've sent me something similar, which is good enough.

Thanks again for the help. I have (eventually) found the bad DIMM. I passed a couple of passes the first time I tried it, but after two DIMMs lasted 8 passes, I tried it overnight, and it failed in less than 2 minutes. So I ran the other 2 together for 8 passes, over 16 hours, no errors. Memtest...

Thanks for the reply. I haven't got that far yet, but it shouldn't be a slot, as I use the 3 slots usually with my 3 * 2GB, with no issues. I've just finished testing a 2nd DIMM, for nearly 9 hours, 8 passes. Will do the last one overnight. If that works, maybe I'll do a pair, or I'll try one...

I set the timings to 9-9-9-24, inserted the 3 * 4GB sticks and ran memtest. Memtest failed in under 2 minutes.

Great, thanks. If doing that, would I leave the MB set to AHCI? I don't yet know what the RST driver is. I'm not running a raid set-up, just one SSD. My intel connections are just sata 2.

Crucials M4 SSD is inherently faulty - AVOID

Really? I rely on my PC, but I don't back up my OS. I back up important data all the time, but if my OS drive crashed it would be a pain I'd rather avoid. But having had a PC since 1994, and having never had a single drive failed (I realise I'm going to now), I am probably a little complacent...

An easy one: What's the best VC for a 520W PSU?

I'd get the 6950 and flash it to be a 6970. Even if you didn't do that, it's a good choice. Flashed it has similar performance to a 570, but is a lot cheaper (at least it is in the UK). But that's only if you could do with the improved performance. If your current card is good enough, then wait...
