Looking at http://www.microcenter.com/specials/...NDLEpromo.html it seems that I can get a 2600k + board for a few more bux than the 2500k + board at newegg $370ish vs 400. Is this worth it?

Thanks! I didn't know about that benchmarking section of Ananadtech. Very helpful. The 460s look like the clear winner but I think one of my biggest concerns is the 150W premium usage while under load. Always tradeoffs...

Gigabit ethernet problems

Setting up Raid1

Hmm, okay, so I guess there's really no reason to continue with the mirror if system uptime isn't really paramount. I mean, it would be a pain if one of the drives died and take me a few hours to get everything back in order, but the data would still be retrievable from the backups. Upside...

Setting up Raid1

I tried Vista, 2003, and XP. All say the raid storage controller is working properly, but they still don't display as a single drive. I was under the impression that software raid is problematic... I have three identical drives, and I was hoping to run two in a mirror and the third across...

Setting up Raid1

I'm trying to get a mirror working in Windows Server 2008 on my NF4 motherboard. Everything seems okay in the bios. -The OS is loaded on a single 100gb hdd -The Mirror detects and reports as "healthy - 500gb" But when I load into windows, I see two separate drives in disk management...

Hmm, but isn't WHS just a pared down version of 2008? That is, can 2008 do everything you mentioned? Because it's free! And I have raid1 on my motherboard. I was just going to use that.

WD Caviar Black

I've noticed that the 5001aals and 6401aals (Caviar Black) aren't in the regular OEM/Retail channels and thus aren't really mentioned. However, I don't need the full sized TB model and in the interest of saving money, these seem like a good performance alternative. Can snag one for ~$80...

VelociRaptor 300GB $252 AR CB

So according to that article, you could get a pair of wd6400aaks and have 4times the storage with better performance for less $$? Is there any reason to get a single raptor?
