e6420 OC vs e6600?

that didn't last long, I just check Frys.com and the E6600 was $302 and the E6400 was $223 they must have made a pricing mistake or something.

Help with Decision 6600 or E4300 to buy for O/C

One thing to note, I've been reading that there is a good likelihood that the e6420s will OC better than the e6600 as they are newer batches and intel has made some progress on the construction techniques. For now its mostly speculation as there haven't been enough e6420s reviewed to say...

What is a good sub-600 gram heatsink?

As long as you use a back plate and don't move around your computer very much it should be fine. Some people say that I does stress the motherboard a little which makes them uncomfortable. They are definitely way over, the Ultra 120 @ 745g and Extreme @ 790g both without fans, Intel's recommend...

What is a good sub-600 gram heatsink?

I wish! I would probably jump on it, but my guess is a ~$70 price tag, a bit steep for me when the ACF7Pro is $30 shipped from eWiz. I doubt the Ultima-90 will be out by the first week of may anyways, which is when I'm buying my new rig. Haven't had a new good computer in years. :-D

What is a good sub-600 gram heatsink?

Ultra-120 Extreme, great HSF, probably a bit heavy Ultima-90, smaller cousin of the 120 Extreme, lighter by still an excellent HSF, comprable to a Tuniq Tower 120 or Sythe Ninja within ~3C. Freezer 7 Pro, much cheaper than the above two, still a great HSF, not quite as good as the Ultima-90...

Yeah, I just changed from going with the ASUS P5N-E SLI to the MSI P6N SLI-FI, partially because I don't like the idea that the ASUS doesn't use all the screws to hold down the mobo (thanks Spanki for pointing that out). Of course now I need to check if the SLI-FI needs any extra cooling on the...

True. Would you stop making this such a hard decision for those of us trying to pick a mobo? LOL. The way I'm beginning to see it, it really doesn't matter which mainboard you get if your not some over-clocking freak. For those of us who want a nice overclock, say cmdrdredd's stated 3.4Ghz...

Hmm . . . I really need thank Spanki for teaching me to take Newegg's specs with a pound of salt. I checked Gigabytes specs on the DS3, it supports 1333Mhz (atleast at rev > 2.3) which was one of the things turning me away from the DS3 (and SLI, but since I've come to my senses its not an issue).

Yeah, its a tough world to buy a motherboard in. I wish there was definitive guide to point to the perfect board. I've been spending the last week reading forums for 4+ hrs a day trying to narrow down my hardware selection. And as soon as I think I've picked the best one, I read just enough more...

Please help

If you will never use SLI, then perhaps the eVGA Ultra might be a better pick. What I know is that the ASUS has matured for 5-6 months now where I as I can't find a 650i Ultra board for sell anywhere. And if you really don't ever want dual PCI-E 8x, then I have heard people say the Gigabyte DS3...

I'd go with the ASUS P5N-E SLI over the MSI. I've read more reviews getting higher OCs on the ASUS than the MSI, plus the ASUS has two PCI-E slots for running SLI and supports a 1333MHz FSB for future upgrades.
