yes they are loud at full speed. Loud is subjective though. It's also relative to other sounds. 44db is definitely loud though. Background noise is around 20db. It's a logarithmic scale too, so its not like 44db is 2.5 times louder, its a LOT louder.
I would stick with prime fft just to test your cpu. I wouldn't mess with any other system settings that might destabilize the system. I suggest you start with a low multiplier and a safe oc of like 2.0 or 2.2 or even stick with 1.8 and just test dif htt settings to see what speeds are stabile...

You can't really make direct comparisons between the ram on different cards unless they use the same exact chips from the same manufacturer. Even then you can get batch differences.
I wasn't able to remove the fan, but I halted it before turning on the drive. The noise it makes was from my 5400 rmp maxtor diamondmax 80 drive. Whatever noise the slow moving fan made, it was not audible over the drive. Hope that helps.
There's a slight hum to it, but that coud very well be from the drive. It doesn't really sound like a fan. I will see if I cna unplug the fan and if it still makes the noise.

most chips that I've seen people post on the boards are hitting around 2.6
A few people say they can get higher, and statistically speaking someone has to be able to, but I would think the mean would be around 2.6

It offers you vcore settings and then it offers you +% of vcore settings as two options.

Oh, and I didn't use any special compounds, just the sandpaper. If you want to get your own sandpaper and do it yourself, make sure you get wet sandpaper.

I just followed the directions. It took me a really long time due to a learning curve of when you've sanded the item enough. Just follow the directions.
Some notes: There's no such thing as using TOO much...
the 80 12ls move less air, so it maybe a little warmer. I wouldn't say it woud be a drastic change. If you want to swap for idnetical cfm then get yourself the M1As which move 32cfm
